Who is God to me!

If there is one phenomenon in this world that surpasses human intelligence by several light-years, it is the works of our almighty God.

And, if there is one way that we can see God, it is through the eyes of our parents, elders & teachers. These are the people who can mold our vision towards God.

I got to see God through the eyes of my mother. For me God is the values that we learn in every stage of our life. This I will narrate in the form of a poem:

I came into this world,
A tiny toddler without a care or worry,
A switch
From the loving caress of the Almighty God,
To the tender cuddle of my mother’s arms.
What this meant !!!
That God gave my mother a part time responsibility to show me back to Him.

As I grew older my mother started her task,
She taught me about prayer.
I understood that prayer was a language that enabled communication between heaven and earth, between God and man.  Speaking to God is like experiencing his divine presence in my life.
So, God is prayer to me.

I also learnt about love,
As time went by I understood that different kinds of love existed,
Love that is experienced within the family,
Love that you feel for your teachers, for your friends, for your partner, for your pets and so on.
But the most wondrous form of love is the love that God has for us, which our human hearts can’t fathom.
So, God is love to me.

I then learnt about kindness,
The same kindness that makes you rush to your neighbor's aid when she is crying in pain,
The very kindness that sparks up a smile on your face to brighten someone’s day.
God said, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’.
And I discovered that God is kindness.

Forgiveness then took shelter in my heart,
Its very presence started a war within me,
Between my ego and my love.
Well, what can I say my ego has a very strong army of a thousand soldiers which leaves love wounded time and again,
Love is undying though, so it can never completely vanish, but it needs the support of forgiveness to conquer ego.
I then realized that God loves us so much only because He forgives.
So God mirrors forgiveness to me.

I feel my life is like a boat set sail in the ocean of this world,
In order to avoid being shipwrecked I need a value that can help me stay rock steady,
That value is peace; it is the calm that flows out of peace that keeps your life boat steady.
If there is one of Jesus' sayings that comes to mind in this context, it is - ‘Peace be with you’.
And then I know that God is peace.

Now prayer, love, kindness, forgiveness and peace have many friends like understanding, charity, joy, patience, concern, chastity, humility, perseverance, obedience, faithfulness and many more.
These friends keep visiting me time and again.  Each time I honor these values, I know I honor God.
